BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) provides a means to assess the environmental impact of any type of building/development. We can help clients maximise their score in the ecological section of BREEAM by undertaking a survey to assess the ecological value of the site prior to development and providing recommendations to enhance the ecological value of the site through environmentally sensitive planting schemes and wildlife shelters (e.g. bird and bat boxes). We have worked on a variety of BREEAM assessments including EcoHomes, Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM Education (formerly Schools), BREEAM Offices and Bespoke BREEAM. All WWC ecologists are full members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and therefore fit the definition of ‘suitably qualified ecologist’ required under BREEAM criteria.
As the great crested newt survey season starts in mid-March, please let us know this month or as soon as possible if you will be needing surveys for this year! Ensure you complete vegetation clearance before the bird nesting season (late February to late August).
Please refer to our survey timetable for further information on surveys that can be undertaken this season.
