BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) provides a means to assess the environmental impact of any type of building/development. We can help clients maximise their score in the ecological section of BREEAM by undertaking a survey to assess the ecological value of the site prior to development and providing recommendations to enhance the ecological value of the site through environmentally sensitive planting schemes and wildlife shelters (e.g. bird and bat boxes). We have worked on a variety of BREEAM assessments including EcoHomes, Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM Education (formerly Schools), BREEAM Offices and Bespoke BREEAM. All WWC ecologists are full members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and therefore fit the definition of ‘suitably qualified ecologist’ required under BREEAM criteria.
This is a good time to carry out nut searches for signs of dormice. Late September is also the end of the reptile season and bat survey seasons. We start compiling the majority of European Protected Species licence (EPSL) applications from this time onwards.
Please refer to our survey timetable for further information on surveys that can be undertaken this season.
