Established in 1988, Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy (WWC) has been providing ecological services to clients for over 20 years.
We have excellent working relationships with our clients, which includes public authorities, businesses and NGOs and we are respected for
our expertise on wildlife, environmental issues and ecological advice.
Our office is located in central Worcestershire enabling us to work throughout the county and the Midlands region. This central location also
allows us to access and work in all parts of the UK with ease.
All of our work is carried out to a high professional standard in accordance with IEEM’s (Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management)
code of practice but we are also guided by the ecological and sustainable ethos of the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. The Consultancy has recently
attained the Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Standard ISO 9001:2000 – a recognition of the quality management system adopted and operated
at the Consultancy.
Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy currently employs a team of skilled and dedicated consultant ecologists who have developed a breadth of experience
working throughout the UK.

Edward
Leszczynski - Consultancy Manager BSc (Hons) MSc MIEEM
Edward has 20 years of experience in the ecological/environmental sector including working within the public and private sector and since 1998, manager for the Consultancy. As well as day to day managerial duties, Edward overseas the larger projects and as a licensed bat ecologist (Natural England and Countryside Council for Wales) undertakes surveys, provides mitigation advice and acts as principal ‘Clerk of Works’ on a range of selected development and conservation schemes.
James Bunyan - Senior Ecologist BSc (Hons) MSc MIEEM
Since graduating with a Masters degree in 2002, James has worked both within the consultancy and academic sectors specialising in mammalian ecology and in particular badgers. With experience of ecological surveys and research on a wide range of species both in the UK and abroad James offers a sound scientific approach to projects with skills in a wide range of monitoring and survey techniques.
Alan Shepherd - Principal Ecologist MIEEM
Alan has worked for the Consultancy since 1995 but prior to this worked in the conservation sector since the 1970s. He has an extensive knowledge of ecological issues including birds, butterflies and mammals. His main area of expertise is with amphibians and reptiles resulting in his roles as National Herpetofauna Co-ordinator for The Wildlife Trusts, a member of the advisory panel for ARG-UK and chair of the Worcestershire Reptile & Amphibian Group (WRAG). He is also a member of the national steering committee for the Great Crested Newt Species Recovery Plan.
Nick Button - Consultancy Ecologist BSc (Hons) MIEEM
Nick started working for the Consultancy in 2004 and prior to this was employed as Aggregates Officer within the Planning Department of Worcestershire County Council. Previous experience has included working for the Dorset Environmental Records Centre as a botanical surveyor, project manager and records centre assistant. As well as undertaking a wide range of protected species surveys and mitigation schemes, Nicks area of expertise is primarily botanical, having undertaken individual species surveys, Phase1 and NVC surveys throughout the UK. More recently this included an NVC survey of Shropshire’s quarries and rare arable weed survey within Worcestershire for Plantlife UK.
Josh Evans - Consultant Ecologist BSc (Hons)
Josh is an experienced ecologist with expertise in herpetofauna and is a licenced and experienced bat surveyor, with a strong interest in terrestrial invertebrates.
Helen Fletcher - Trainee Ecologist BSc (Hons)
Helen graduated in July 2007 with a 1st class honours degree in Biological Sciences and is currently gaining professional experience of survey techniques and report writing as part of the team.
Ruth Hargreaves - Finance and admin assistant
Ruth joined the Consultancy in spring 2006 and during this time has helped to develop the Quality Management System, help to plan Consultancy work as well as undertaking all of the day to day financial and administrative activities.

Neil McLean Cert Arb (RFS) - Arboricultural Consultant
Neil is a fully qualified arboriculturist providing advice on all aspects of tree and woodland management as well as being a licensed and experienced
bat surveyor which complements his arboricultural skills.
Liz McKay – Ecological Consultant
Liz has many years of experience in the ecological sector and specialises in botanical and protected species surveys with a particular emphasis on bat and great crested newt ecology.
Will Watson B.Ed AIEEM - Consultant Ecologist
Will is a professional ecologist with over 20 years of experience who has a comprehensive knowledge of wetland ecology and whose expertise
largely focuses towards reptile, amphibian, aquatic invertebrates and pond conservation.
AWTC - Association of Wildlife Trust Consultancies
As a member of the AWTC, Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy is able to draw on the expertise from many other Wildlife Trust consultancies located
throughout the UK. Like the WWC, these organisations also offer professional expertise in ecology, landscape and planning. The Association
promotes quality standards, shares training and knowledge and works together on major and national projects.
