Bespoke Bat Mitigation

We have extensive experience with the design of bat mitigation solutions for a wide variety of projects. Often as part of a European Protected Species License (EPSL) application we have worked on over 200 projects in recent years which require the design of mitigation strategies for maintaining bats at a favourable conservation status within a development site.

In some cases due to the clients requirements, the restrictions of the site and the conservation ecology of the bat species present a bespoke approach is required to arrive at a pragmatic and workable solution.

Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy works closely with architects and planning consultants to successfully design mitigation strategies that satisfy both Natural England (with respect to EPSL applications) and the clients in respect to mitigation designs. Such solutions may involve internal voids (bat lofts) with interconnecting links where appropriate, external provisions (such as bat boxes) and integrated features such as bat tubes and cavity walls. Each and every site is assessed on an individual basis and fundamental to our approach is the development of a close working relationship with both the client and architects, developing solutions based on sound ecological surveys and a thorough understanding of bat ecology.
